The Givoletto Castle

The first evidence of the existence of Castél dates back to a bull of Benedict VIII of 1014, and later to diplomas of Arrigo III and Ottone IV. In 1426 the Marquis of Monferrato invested Guglielmo and Giacobino, viscounts of Baratonia, in a sixth part of the castle of Givoletto and its belonging.

In 1554 the French conquered Givoletto and ordered the demolition of the castle.
In 1652 Count Sacaravello entered into a transaction with the community of Givoletto. The deed is written in the ruined castle. The moat surrounding Castél, seat of the feudal castle, above the Munera is called the Virundula. La Munéra, the area of bricks, is a steep slope dotted with bricks from the remains of the ancient feudal castle of Givulèt, ël Castél.
