Palazzina di Stupinigi

Works for the hunting palace began in 1729 following the plans by Filippo Juvarra, who re-designed the whole estate that Emanuele Filiberto had given to the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus. Works went on until the end of the XVIII century, with extension and enhancement interventions by Benedetto Alfieri and other architects, such as Giovanni Tommaso Prunotto, Ignazio Birago di Borgaro, Ludovico Bo, Ignazio Bertola. The palace wonderfully exemplifies the spirit of Juvarra’s last works and of Benedetto Alfieri, and belongs to the rococo style of contemporary European royal residences. It was a place for hunting and entertainment for the court of the House of Savoy, and the Savoy family’s favourite, sumptuous location for weddings and parties.
