Vittoria Farmstead

The Cascina Vittoria was built between 1863 and 1868 and dedicated to the daughter of Vittorio Emanuele II and Rosa Vercellana, Vittoria Guerrieri. It has a closed court development: the right sleeve is still used as a storage area for fodder and agricultural vehicles, the left sleeve is a building used as a horse box, in the center the main house and services related to the stable activity of the park. La Cascina, managed by the Vivere la Mandria Agricultural Cooperative and Dr. Michelangelo Vaccarino, is the reproduction center of the Italian Agricultural Horse (CAI-TPR), the only native Italian shooting breed, as well as a reference point for walks on horseback or in carriages inside the Park.

At the Vittoria farm there is also a nice mobile kiosk, open especially on weekends, for snacks and drinks. Nearby is the Cascina Romitaggio, which, together with Cascina Grangetta, holds the palm of the oldest building in La Mandria: it dates back to the 13th and 14th centuries, but was substantially restored in the 19th century. In the past it was called Eremitaggio, suggesting that the building housed hermits, perhaps even monks. Not to dismiss the idea that they could be the same conductors of the relatively close church of San Giuliano. Its current destination is that of agricultural building for shelter of fodder with adjacent pastures for horses that over time have taken the place of cattle.
