Anti-traffic electric bikes in the Royal Parks

Sustainable mobility

( Venaria Reale, 30 September 2021 )

ANTI-TRAFFIC ELECTRIC BIKES IN THE ROYAL PARKS
From September, park rangers and employees of the Royal Parks Authority will be riding e-bikes and promote electro-tourism

Finally, a “bike park” (with pedal assistance) in the Park, as an alternative to the service vehicles. Via the purchase of 6 pedal assist electric bikes, distributed between Stupinigi Park and La Mandria, the Royal Parks Authority wants to give a clear message towards sustainable mobility and tourism.

For this reason, the Royal Parks staff is committed to using these new vehicles for short journeys, thus avoiding disturbance, in terms of noise and dust, for users of the green area. They will be used by park rangers for patrolling, technicians for inspections and by some administrative staff to reach nearby postal and banking services.

Today, at Borgo Castello della Mandria, in collaboration with the instructors of the Alpi Marittime Regional, a specific course was held for staff on the mechanics of the new vehicles and safe driving. At the same time, in Borgo Castello, the Formont insistute is starting up a course for all those who want to acquire a professional qualification as cycle-tourist guides.

Finally, the aim is to organise dedicated tours by professional bike guides belonging to the Authority promotion sector: it starts on 26 September with a proposal of thirty kilometres of cycling through the woods and castles of the Baratonia region, between Fiano and the Ceronda valley. This is an area little known to the public, due to the presence of dirt roads and ups and downs that cannot be easily tackled with muscle bikes.

Since a few months, it is also possible to rent e-bikes in La Mandria Park, at the Rampa Farmstead (www.cascinarampa.it): a regional structure recovered by the Park Authority, near the entrance to the Tre Cancelli Park (in Via Scodeggio in Venaria), used a staging and refreshment point for sportsmen.
